1989 – The fall of the Berlin Wall and the time of transformation marked a turning point for everyone living in Germany at that time. In the ritualized culture of remembrance centered around November 1989 and the subsequent reunification, the experiences of this epochal shift from the perspective of the migrant population remained absent for a long time.

In the project “With an Open Gaze | Açık bakışla”, migrants or protagonists with a family history of migration in Berlin who experienced the fall of the Wall and reunification were interviewed about their personal memories, in an effort to fill this gap.
