Gallery Auslage is a curatorial lab for art, books, objects and ideas.
Galerie Auslage follows on from the history of off-spaces in Berlin, which have a rich history in the city but have been displaced by gentrification, real estate speculation and the associated pressure for a commercially oriented monoculture.
Galerie Auslage considers itself an open space that operates on the principles of DIY culture, the copy machine, speed and mobility, experiment, the temporary and interim use as a Berlin model.
Founded in 2019 by Alexandra Weltz-Rombach, the gallery was located on Pücklerstrasse in Berlin-Kreuzberg until 2023.
In addition to numerous exhibitions, such as those by Diana Artus, , Andrea van Reimersdahl, Ana Botezatu, Hanna Frenzel, Isil Eğrikavuk, Götz Holborn / maverick, Dagmar Cassens, among others, the 2021 project Der beschwerliche Reichtum. Unabhängige Künstler*innen im Berlin der 1980er Jahre und heute. took place. For the 2021 anniversary of the Tarabya Cultural Academy, Galerie Auslage presented the performance Thea Soti & Burcu Bilgiç: Don´t know where but you should come (2021)
A live event expanded the series The Burdensome Richness in 2023, focusing on Berlin in the 1920s and 1930s. It featured, among others, a text by Julia Bosson on Irmgard Keun, Tabea Blumenschein, and the glamour of Berlin. Erin Honeycutt presented a spoken word performance around Ulrike Ottinger’s iconic film Ticket of No Return. Val Renay performed a musical piece. Letters from Anne Jud to her friend Hanna Frenzel were read, and finally, filmmaker Sonya Schönberger gave a lecture based on her interviews with female artists in Berlin, addressing the question of how one grows older as an artist in the city.
In addition, an initial research and presentation of contributions on the history of the Eva Mamlok Group was initiated here, which was subsequently expanded into a series of further exhibitions, events, and activities.
